industrial organizational psychology scholar

Josh Wood is a New York-based doctoral scholar in business with a concentration in organizational leadership and equity at South College whose work rises from lived experience in hospitality and retail leadership. His academic path began in fast moving workplaces where identity and power shaped each moment. These early encounters with culture and labor sparked a lasting interest in how people understand themselves at work and how organizational systems guide or limit that understanding. His research centers on intersectionality, workplace mobility, and the influence of AI driven management tools on human experience in modern service settings.

His long term goal is to build a body of work that helps organizations grow into more humane and adaptive communities. He studies how leaders create meaning and continuity during periods of change and how systems can be redesigned to support fairness and learning. As a doctoral scholar, Josh aims to bridge theory and practice through research that offers clarity to scholars and practical guidance to the people who shape daily workplace life. His work seeks to transform the conditions under which people work and lead and to honor the complexity and dignity of labor in all its forms.

Josh holds a Master of Science in Business with a concentration in Human Resources Management from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He holds a Professional and Executive Development certificate of leadership excellence from Harvard Business School and is a student member of the Society of Human Resources Management.
